Copy writing isn’t as hard as it seems.
If you’re a beginner, you’re probably a little intimidated by the idea of writing for other people’s websites. You don’t know anything about the industry or how to write for this type of client or that type of subject matter. You might have even heard horror stories of companies that have hired people who couldn’t write or who were so bad at it that they could never get another job in copy writing again.
But if you’ve got these concerns, don’t worry! I’m going to show you how to start out as a copywriter—and I’m going to make sure that no one ever has to hire anyone else again who can’t write well.
No one ever learned to write by reading. You have to do it.
-Get a good, solid pen. You want something that won’t break or run out of ink.
-Find a nice, quiet place to write. You don’t want to be distracted by other people, or loud sounds (or other things) while you’re working, so find somewhere where you can concentrate fully on your work.
-Write down your ideas as they come to you. If you have a lot of ideas for a post, try scrawling them all down on a piece of paper and then picking out the top 10 or 20 ideas that seem most promising. Don’t worry about what order those ideas go in—just write them down!
-Break up your writing into sections. For example, if there are four sections: intro/description/promotion copy/closing copy, then write each section separately and then put them together with transitions like “and” or “but.”
1.Don’t be afraid to experiment!
2.Don’t be afraid of the long form, it’s not as scary as it seems.
3.You don’t have to be perfect at everything, just try your best every time you write something new.
4.Always try and keep your audience in mind when you’re writing, even if it means taking your own advice and doing something silly or off-the-wall!
